Ryedale road rage attack - police appeal

Police in Ryedale are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man was attacked in a road rage incident.

The victim was driving his red volkswagen Golf along a narrow road in Settrington after being diverted due to road works on Tuesday, February 18, at around 1.45pm.

As he entered the diversion, he narrowly missed a black Citroen Berlingo van.

Police say he reversed back up the road to apologise to the van driver, who got out of his vehicle and punched the victim in the face before driving off.

The van driver is described as white, around 6ft tall, with an average build, brown hair and stubble.

He spoke with a local accent.

The van had a registration number which began YX11 or YX12.

Officers are appealing to anyone who recognises the description of the offender or the van to get in touch with PC Andrew Pomfret or Helmsley Police.

He can be reached via North Yorkshire Police on 101.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to andrew.pomfret@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
