PUPILS from St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Pickering have handed over £328 as part of a project to help children in India.
Father Michael, of the Holy Childhood charity, visited the school yesterday to collect the money and talk to pupils about the difference it will make to the lives of the children who attend the Vijaya Mary Integrated School for the Blind.
The money was raised in a variety of ways, including non-uniform days, cake stalls, retiring collections after their Christmas productions and collection boxes they filled in at home during November, and will be used to buy specialist equipment and to allow the Sisters and Priests to baptise and prepare the children to learn about their Catholic faith and receive the Holy Sacrements.
Head teacher Lisa Brown said: “We are overwhelmed by the continuing generosity of our parents in these difficult times for everyone.”
