Police are appealing for information after a burglary and theft of power tools from a village near Pickering.

The thieves stole Dewalt tools, including drills, a jigsaw and a chop saw, from a shed at a cottage in Newton-upon-Rawcliffe, sometime between 11pm on Tuesday, April 15, and 8am the following day.

Also taken was a Husqvarna chainsaw and a Makita drill as well a torch and welding leads.

PC Emma Collins, of Ryedale’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you noticed any unusual vehicles in the Newton-upon-Rawcliffe area around the time of the burglary or in the days prior to it, I ask you to contact the police as soon as possible.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who has been offered any tools matching the description of those stolen and urge them to get in touch straight away.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Collins on 101. Alternatively, email to emma.collins@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
