Society looking for local helpers

A new recruitment campaign has been launched to find caring individuals from the Ryedale area who could help as MS support volunteers.

The Ryedale MS Society is on the hunt for good listeners who are looking for an opportunity to develop
their skills and meet new people.

Support volunteers play a vital role in supporting people touched by multiple sclerosis (MS).

The support team aims to empower people with MS by providing information about the condition, lending a friendly ear and helping people access available services.

Molly Newton, chairman of the Ryedale branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, said: “We’re developing a strong team and looking for people in the area to help us continue to provide invaluable support to people with MS, and their families.

“It’s an extremely rewarding role so whether people have a few hours or days to spare a week we would love to hear from them, and will welcome them to the branch with open arms.”

Successful applicants will be provided with training and a full induction pack.

There are also volunteering opportunities with the society’s York branch, particularly for volunteer drivers.

For more information on the support team or any other volunteering opportunities, contact Kirsty McDowell on 020 8438 0986 or kmcdowell@mssociety.org.uk.
