Pupils from Norton College and Malton School have attended a conference at Sheffield Hallam University to train them to become sports ambassadors.
The Young Ambassador programme was established as a London 2012 project and is a true legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The students, selected by their secondary schools for their dedication to sport and leadership skills, will become role models for others and the young peoples’ voice on PE and sport in their respective schools.
As sports leaders, they are already heavily involved with festivals and tournaments co-ordinated for local primary schools and are instrumental in helping to increase participation in PE and extra curricular activities.
