Another year, another successful show season for Andrew Scarborough.

The cattle breeder from Killham, near Driffield, has so far enjoyed a good 2014 with his Limousin bullocks and heiffers - despite working with a lower budget than last year.

He won top prizes at Great Yorkshire Show and was hopeful of repeating the feat at Welburn Park yesterday.

“A lot of hard work and effort goes into showing and the skille and time to pick a right animal,” said Andrew. “We had a lower budget this year so what we have spent, we have done very well. We have had a lot of seconds and thirds and we are not far off the big boys.”

A good show season is important for farmers like Andrew, who formerly used to live at Skirpenbeck, near Stamford Bridge.

He said: “When we sell them in the market, we have a good name from the shows and the cattle are outstanding. When we go into market, we always get a good price for the quality.”

Andrew was helped on the day by Emma Allen, seve, of Malton.
