A lucky youngster from Great Barugh near Malton has “scooped” a tasty prize after winning a competition at the Harbour Bar in Scarborough.

Izzy Collinson, eight, won 10 litres of her favourite ice cream by writing a caption for next year’s Harbour Bar Christmas card.

The caption, which went with a picture of Father Christmas in the window of the seafront venue, read: “Knickerbocker glory?! There’ll be no glory for us if we don’t get their presents delivered!”

Manager Jackie McDonald said: “We got quite a lot of entries from members of our kids’ club.

“We looked through them all and felt that Izzy’s was the best. She did really well.”

The caption will appear on next year’s card, along with another chance for children to enter the yearly competition.

The Harbour Bar kids’ club has nearly 1,000 members, aged from three months to 12 years old.
