Town hall facelift

THE old Town Hall in the centre of Malton’s Market Place was unveiled on Friday after several weeks’ restoration.

The Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate commissioned the work in order to restore the iconic building, the former home of Malton Museum, to its former glory as one of the most impressive buildings in the town.

The building has been given a facelift and clean which has greatly improved the fascia which it has displayed in recent years.

Work has been carried out by John Greenan Masonry, a locally based stonemason contractor whose craftsmen specialise in using traditional methods and materials to restore heritage buildings.

Roddy Bushell, Estate manager for the Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate, said: “We hope that the combination of the new business and attractive building will be a real draw for the Market Place and Malton more generally.”
