Kirkbymoorside has ambitious plans to once again transform it into a “blooming” lovely town.
Its “In Bloom” group is seeking sponsorship for floral display tubs and chairman, Gaynor de Barr, said the aim is to mark the centenary of the First World War and the 50th anniversary of Yorkshire in Bloom.
“The In Bloom group hopes to make Kirkbymoorside’s war memorial and war graves part of the commemoration,” she said.
Last year, the group received a top accolade in the Yorkshire in Bloom’s annual competition - a silver gilt award as well as a special commendation for its work in the community. In addition, there will be hanging basket displays and an Open Gardens Day on Sunday, July 27.
Businesses, organisations and individuals can sponsor a flower tub for £40. Further details are available from Richard Coates, the treasurer, at 11 Castlegate, Kirkbymoorside.
