The National Westminster bank in Kirkbymoorside is to close, it has been announced.
The branch, which is part of the taxpayer-backed Royal Bank of Scotland group, is one of 44 across the UK in line for the chop.
It comes as bosses say there has been a 30 per cent drop in UK branch transactions since 2010.
Cllr Chris Dowie, the Mayor of Kirkbymoorside, said: “I am very sorry to hear about the closure of the Kirkbymoorside branch.
“It is extremely disappointing news for the many people in the town who are customers and who will now have to travel quite some distance to another branch.”
