Vintage day of fundraising on tractor run

A Ryedale mother’s love of historic tractors has resulted in more than £2,410 being raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mrs Dot Hall died from cancer earlier this year and her son, Brian, organised a vintage tractor run for the cancer charity in her memory. Starting at Hawnby, his home village, the procession of 25 vintage models made their way to the top of Sutton Bank, then to Kilburn, Sutton, and Kirby Knowle.

“We lost mum from cancer in March. It happened so quickly we didn’t have time to get in touch with Macmillan but we wanted to raise money for the charity, to give something back to help people who might be going through something similar. She loved vintage tractors so we did the run in her memory.”

Sally Millington, fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “We rely on donations for 98 per cent of our work. We really do send a big thank you to everyone who was involved in the tractor run.”
