Advice is being offered to residents after an attempted burglary in Bulmer, near Malton.
Police say the burglars tried - and failed - to force open a ground floor window in the early hours of Tuesday last week.
PC Katie Shaw, of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you noticed any suspicious activity in Bulmer around the time of the attempted break-in, I urge you to contact the police straight away. I am also keen to speak to anyone else whose property in the village may have been the subject of a similar offence.”
The incident has led to PC Paul Fenwick, the Ryedale South Beat Manager, reminding the public to protect their properties during the festive period.
He said: “As Christmas approaches can I ask people to remain vigilant and to take simple security measures such as making sure that all doors and windows are locked.”
