People across Ryedale are being asked to dust off their wedding dresses and dig out their photographs for a special exhibition in Helmsley.
The request from Rev Tim Robinson comes as All Saints’ Church, Helmsley, gears up for a Wedding Dress Festival in August.
The church is hoping to host a display representing weddings over the last century and already has dresses from as early as 1916 to put on show as well as archive photographs and other wedding memorabilia.
Rev Robinson said: “We are hoping we’ll be able to put on a really interesting exhibition for locals and visitors to the town alike. Many people may still have their grandmother’s dress somewhere in storage, or may have kept their own from as little as a year ago to as long as 70 years ago!
“We’d like to be able to show how styles and weddings have changed, whilst the church remains steadfast amongst it all.
“It would be great to get lots of photos of weddings held in the town over the years to put on show. We’d also be very grateful for any mannequins people would be able to lend us to use as part of the display!”
