VOLUNTARY and community groups are invited to a funding fair on Wednesday, October 22.
Organised by Ryedale Voluntary Action, it offers an opportunity to meet "funders" face-to-face and ask for advice or information and discover what grants are available.

This year's fair also includes a free workshop, led by fit4funding, to help gr
oups plan for the future and increase their sustainability and widen their funding base.

John Crossland, chairman of Heslerton Sports Club, used a previous fair to find funding for the recently-opened sports pavilion – eventually receiving more than £150,000 from Yorven- ture.

"Getting the basics right is essential to any funding application," he said. "Attending the funding fair put us on the right track and gave us the opportunity to speak directly to Yorventure and other possible funders."

Pauline Reeve, funding advisor for Ryedale Voluntary Action, added: "This is our seventh annual fair. They are always successful and well attended by both funders and voluntary and community groups. If you have a project that you are raising money for, or if you have a germ of an idea, you should attend this event."

The funding fair runs from 1.30pm to 5.30pm.

For more information about the event or to speak to the funding advisor contact Pauline on (01653) 600120 or email pauline@rva-cvs.org.uk

l Ryedale Voluntary Action is holding its annual meeting at the Malton and Norton Rugby Club, Malton, at 10am today.

Guest speakers include Kathy Donnelly and Alison Rowlands, of North Yorkshire LINK.
