PUPPETS, poets and The Polyjesters promise to entertain village halls in Ryedale – thanks to Rural Arts On Tour's autumn programme.
It is part of the Thirsk-based comp-any’s scheme to offer family-friendly performances to rural communities across North Yorkshire.
Kicking off the season is Not About Heroes, starring Dominic Goodwin and Emanuel Brierley. The two-hander charts the friendship of soldier-poets Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon. They meet during the horror of the First World War only for their friendship to be tragically cut short a week before the Armistice.
The Polyjesters continue their Tour of World Domination when they visit Amotherby at the end of November. The Canadian group play everything from Billie Holliday to The Beatles with some on-stage antics thrown in for good measure.
And comedy, puppetry and storytelling collide in The Puppet State Theatre Company's production of The Man who Planted Trees. The story follows a shepherd who plants a forest to transform a barren wasteland only to see it come under threat as war rages.
Tickets are available from each venue.
l Not About Heroes: Cropton Village Hall on November 6; Ampleforth Village Hall on November 20.
l The Polyjesters: Amotherby Parish Hall on November 27.
l The Puppet State Theatre Company: Pickering Memorial Hall on December 3.
