HAROME'S triumph by 11 runs was a fine reward for their 750-mile round trip to Ross County in Scotland.
Dave Greenlay, 84, and skipper Phil Marwood, 23, gave the visitors a fine start with an opening stand of 68, but the Ryedale Beckett League side lost a couple of wickets before 18-year-old Josh Greenlay came in and smacked a crucial 69 during a stand of 80 with his dad Dave.

Doug Fairley, 4-31, and Dave Smith, 3-44, were the top bowlers for County, who dismissed Harome for 225 from the final ball of the final over, keeper Graham Watson claiming seven victims.

Jonny Leckenby and Jim Greenlay took a couple of wickets apiece to rock the home side, but Mark Watson, 63, threatened to steer County to victory until Josh Greenlay ran out Watson and the home side ended their innings on 214-5.

In flixton's game at Burneside, a superb 82 from Rob Lacey laid the foundations for the York League side. teenager Oliver Stephenson hit a valuable 36 and Chris Allen struck 48 as the visitors posted 231-6 from their 40 overs.

Damon Gormley and Pete Hill picked up a wicket apiece as Burneside struggled to 73-2 from 20 overs before rain halted play, with Flixton's faster scoring rate earning them a spot in the last 16.

Scorecards: Harome 225 (D Greenlay 84, Josh Greenlay 69) beat Ross County 214-5 (M Watson 63, G Watson 39) by 11 runs.

Flixton 231-6 (R Lacey 82, O Stephenson 36, C Allen 48) beat Burneside 73-2 on a faster scoring rate.
