Bagby & Balk 2 Thornton-le-Dale 3
DALE put in-form Bagby to the sword to move through from round two.

Bagby went into the match full of confidence after ending Kirkbymoorside Reserves’ 21-match unbeaten run last week, but Dale hit them where it hurts when Gary Parker
headed home in the eighth minute.

It was Dale who were in control and Luke Hobbs had a header well saved.

Matty Wilkinson made it 2-0 when he was on hand at the far post to turn in a cross.

Bagby hit back through Danny Easton five minutes later and then when Dan George sent in a pin-point centre Andrew Parkinson headed home.

A minute into the second half Dale edged ahead but the goal had an element of good fortune about it as Hobbs’ free-kick flew through the keeper’s hands.

Play switched from end to end but there were no further goals in what was an entertaining match.

Star man - Bagby & Balk - left-winger Danny Easton was always a problem.

Thornton - midfielder Simon King had to go off in the second half through injury but he had done enough to see his side home.

Union Rovers 6 Pro-Pak 1

Rovers gained revenge over the second flight opponents with this convincing win.

Rovers were on top from the outset and turned their possession into two first half goals.

The first came from Paul Holder, who tapped in from close range, and the second from Chris Hodgson. The home side also saw two of their efforts cleared off the line and another hit the bar.

In the second half there was no stopping Holder who completed his hat-trick, one from the penalty spot and the other the best goal of the game after he had ghosted past a couple of opponents before chipping the keeper.

Dean Readman also got on the scoresheet for Rovers and Rob Watson completed the scoring, when he was on hand to turn the ball into the net after good work by Scott Simpson.

Star man - Union - Paul Holder started in up front and then moved into midfield. He would have played a stormer if he had had to go in goal.

Pro-Pak - midfielders Brent Wilson and Dean Sleightholme were always in the thick of things.

Aislaby United 4

Amotherby & Swinton 3rds 1

This was no stroll in the park for Aislaby as second division Amotherby put up a good performance, especially in the first half.

It looked so good for Aislaby when Amotherby’s Nick Johnson headed a Paul Mann free-kick past his own keeper in the eighth minute.

Aislaby should have built on this but Taryn Midgley squandered a glorious opportunity in front of goal.

Amotherby were starting to get things together and they looked especially good going forward.

They should have been rewarded for some good football but Shane Olley saw his effort go across the goal and agonisingly wide.
