Amotherby & Swinton 3rds 2
Ryedale SC Reserves 3
Amotherby made a slow start and fell into arrears in this division two cup first round game against Ryedale.
The home side managed to get some rhythm into their play and levelled when Andy Phillips rounded the keeper.

Liam Rapp then centred and Matt Hill headed home to give Amotherby a 2-1 lead.

The home side then had their best spell of the match.

The home side started well in the second half but Ryedale responded in fine style with a couple of well-taken goals.

As the match went on Amotherby visibly tired and Ryedale Reserves proved to be worthy winners.

Star man – Amotherby & Swinton 3rds – defenders Nick Johnson, Rich Kerrison and Dave Drabble all gave of their best.

Bay Horse 5 Ampleforth 4

What a performance Ampleforth put up in their second round game against second division leaders Bay Horse.

The home side had to pull out all the stops and only settled the issue with three minutes remaining.

It was nip and tuck for most of the match with the home side always in the lead until Ampleforth levelled proceedings.

Bay Horse did not help their cause when they had a player sent off in the second half.

Joe Mason was on target twice for the York side whose other goals came from Mark Powell, Sam Clayton and Dave McManus.

Star man – Bay Horse – left winger Mark Powell was a constant threat.

Gillamoor Res 0 Duncombe Park 3

Duncombe Park progressed into the third round with a convincing win at Gillamoor Reserves.

Park always looked in control of the game but it took until the 75th minute for the first goal to come.

A neat back heel by Alex Shields allowed Christian Ardisonne to break down the left wing and cross to the back post where Johnny Nicholson made no mistake.

The Gillamoor boys looked like they had run out of steam and conceded a free kick two minutes later after the ball was played short to left back Craig Petch who rifled home a 20 yard shot.

The final goal came when substitute James Craig scuffed his shot which then fell back into his path.

His shot was straight at the keeper but the ball rebounded back to him again for an easy tap-in, in the final few minutes of the game.

Star man – Duncombe Park – a good team performance given by the Park lads but Johnny Nicholson shone above the rest for his constant hard work and was rewarded with a goal.
