Edgehill Reserves see off Snainton

Edgehill Reserves moved up to fifth place in the Scarborough News Saturday League second division with a 2-1 home win against Snainton on Friday night.

James Webb opened the scoring for the defending second division champions with a neat finish after a good through-ball from Jason Prosser.

Dan I’Anson’s troops doubled their lead thanks to a Joe Logan strike, but Snainton, who are relegated from division two, got their way back into the game with a headed goal from Karl Cooper before half-time.

Both sides pushed on after the interval but there was no further score thanks to some fine defending from both sides.

Player-boss Leigh Watson, in his last game in charge of his home village club, singled out Ross Triffitt as his team’s man of the match.

I’Anson, a former Snainton teammate of Watson’s, picked out left-back Dave Bell, another ex-Snainton player, as the Edgehill Reserves man of the match.

Edgehill Reserves’ next game is at home to Scalby on Monday night, 6pm kick-off, followed by the Trophy Traders League Trophy final against Cayton Corinthians at Pickering Town on Wednesday night, 7.30pm kick-off.
