The fate of the Weaponness Leisure Village is to be decided at a Scarborough Borough Council Planning Committee meeting today at 1pm, and Foot admits the move back to the town would be huge for the club.

The former Scarborough FC defender wants to make sure the club move back to town with a bang by playing their first game at the proposed new site in the Evo-Stik’s top flight.

Foot (pictured right) said: “It would make a huge difference to be back playing in Scarborough, and we want to be coming back to town having won promotion.

“Every time me and Bryan (Hughes) speak to fans they ask us when we are coming back to town.

“It would mean we could really kick on as a club and hopefully get some bigger crowds following us, meaning we could grow as a club.”

Foot admitted that from a personal point of view, it would fill him with immense pride to be in charge of the club if and when they are back playing in Scarborough, should the Weaponness Leisure Village plans get the green light at today’s meeting.

“Both myself and Bryan had some great moments during our playing careers, but from a managerial perspective to lead Scarborough Athletic back into town would be fantastic,” added Foot.

“Having more of a presence in town in something me and Bryan have been wanting to do since we took over and we’re working towards that already.

“We are hoping to have friendlies and training in town over the summer to start that.”
