The former United hero was joined by another former Elland Road favourite, Brendan Ormsby, at The Crown Spa as funds were raised in memory of Jane Mancrief, who passed away earlier this year.

Rugby league referee Ben Thailer, who took charge of the Grand Final this year, and comedian Zak Stevens were also present on the night.

Over £1,000 was raised and split between Newlands and St Catherine’s, much to the delight of co-organiser Dave Marsden.

Marsden said: “The whole event was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.

“Eddie and Brendan were superb and the food was top notch.

“I didn’t hear one negative comment and everyone seemed to enjoy the night while we raised some good money for Newlands and St Catherine’s.

“Big thanks to everyone who helped organise it.”
