Rovers march past Slingsby in cup clash

Union Rovers Reserves surged to a 10-4 win at Slingsby in their Panasonic League Division 2 Cup second round tie.

Rich Abbey hammered five goals in for Union, while Luke Dawson struck twice, with Phil Smith, Grant Stevens and Ryan Cooper also on target. Man of the match for Union was left-back Martin Benson.

Thornton-le-Dale Reserves won 4-3 on penalties at Pickering Knights after the scores had been locked at 5-5 after extra-time.

Star man Corey Taylor scored twice for the Knights, with Greg Fawcett, Rowan South and sub Adam Ridley also on target.

The other clash saw Gillamoor Reserves win 3-2 at Heslerton Reserves, with Tyrone Walton and Pete Tiffany scoring for Heslerton.
