Scarboro’ teams handed tricky NRCFA semi-final tests

Saturday League champions Newlands Park and Sunday League title-holders Trafalgar were both handed away ties in tonight’s NRCFA Cup semi-finals draw, while Park’s Sunday team are still in the Sunday Challenge Cup draw as a complaint has been put in following their 1-0 defeat to Thornaby Village.

Either Newlands or Thornaby will be at home to West Two in the Sunday Challenge Cup semi-finals next month, with the FA set to investigate the complaint and make their decision in the next couple of days, according to NRCFA cup competitions committee chairman Allan Burnett.

West Two defeated Scarborough League second division promotion-chasers West Riding 2-0 in the quarter-finals.

Grangetown play host to The Cleveland in the other semi-final. Both games will be played on Sunday March 1.

In the Sunday County Cup semi-finals, Traf will play at Sportsmans FC on Sunday March 8, with North Ormesby Cons v Thornaby Meerkats the other half of the draw.

Newlands Park’s Saturday team have been handed a semi-final at Boro Rangers in the Saturday Challenge Cup on Saturday March 7.

Staithes are at home to Colborn Town in the other tie.
