Malton & Norton striker Ryan Rivis is enjoying his first season of football for the England firefighters squad.

The striker got a call-up in November last year and so far he has made two appearances.

Ryan, who used to play for Kirkbymoorside, made his debut for the national side with just 30 minutes remaining and made an immediate impact as he scored a goal with his first touch of the game.

Following his debut, he found himself in the starting line-up for the next game against the RAF police, where he had a great game.

Former Ryedale School pupil Ryan Rivis, whose dad Darren used to play for, and manage, Kirkbymoorside FC, said: “It is professionally run and we are well looked after, the training is physical and not too serious, the coaching team like to build everyone together.”

As well as the England firefighters team, Ryan also plays for the North Yorkshire team and they are enjoying a great campaign.

They have progressed through to the Futsal National championships which will take place in March in Hartlepool.

The county side were runners-up last time, this year they will be looking to take the title.

Rivis added: “This event is held every three years and last time we narrowly missed out.

“If you win here then you have the chance to go abroad to compete and play against other futsal teams from all around the world.”
