Park needed victory to ensure they stole the title from the dominant grasps of rivals Trafalgar, and the three points were never in doubt after Itis Itis struggled to raise a side.

Playing against eight men, Park showed no mercy as they dominated from the start, joint-boss Ryan Cooper smashing in four goals, while sub Hugh Brown hammered in a second-half hat-trick.

Drew McCoubrey and Stew Bates both grabbed doubles, while goals from Jack Hakings, Liam Cooper and keeper Callum Myers, who played outfield in the second half, rounded off the scoring as Park were crowned champions.

Joint-boss Luntley said: “We were expecting a decent game and there may have been some nerves there after we’d lost in the North Riding Cup final on Thursday.

“It’s been a long time coming though, we’ve been aiming for this for five or six years now and to achieve it finally is brilliant.

“The team spirit is brilliant among the lads. We’ve had a good core of eight or nine players who have turned up week-in week-out and that’s made it easier.

“Most of the lads are hitting their peak now, we’ve had a young team over the years and now we’re getting more experienced.

“All the lads have been great, but Leigh Watson and Matty Griffiths signing for us has been massive, and in front of them Stefan Moon has been brilliant.

“I can’t overlook Stew Bates and Drew McCoubrey either, they must have scored around 70 goals between them.”

Park can still complete the treble as they face Ayton and Trafalgar in cup final action over the next couple of week.

Trafalgar scored a late winner to edge past Commercial, who ended the season in the bottom two as a result.

Commercial led after Col Jenkinson committed a foul in the area and keeper Jamie Fowler made no mistake from the spot.

Ricky Greening levelled up just before the break, finishing neatly after turning his marker.

Skipper Neil Thomas put Traf ahead for the first time in the contest after the break, only for Robin Coulson to equalise with a superb effort that flew in off the post.

For all Commercial’s effort, Traf were to grab the three points when a clearance cannoned off Thomas and flew in.

Player-boss Liam Salt singled out Greening and Thomas. He said: “We’re gutted that we haven’t won the league, but we said at the start of the season that the County Cup was the priority.

“We still have two cup finals to look forward to as well.”

Commercial boss Geoff Osguthorpe was full of praise for his side after a long, tough season.

He said: “I couldn’t have asked any more from the lads. They’ve all put in a massive amount of effort and I’m proud of them all.”

Heslerton won their division two promotion showdown against West Riding.

In their winner-takes-all clash, it was Dean Storry’s men who sealed their place in division one after a 2-0 victory.

Scott Bown opened the scoring after 20 minutes after following up on Dan Blanchard’s effort that lobbed the keeper but bounced back off the post.

It took until the 89th minute for Heslerton to shore up their win, Blanchard finding the back of the net after being played through on goal.

Boss Storry said: “It was a pretty even game, but we just about edged it and I’m delighted that we’ve sealed promotion.

“Credit to the whole team, we have the best defence in the division and that starts from the front.

“We know it’ll be a big challenge in division one, but it’s one we’re ready to tackle.”

Ayton beat a depleted Trafalgar Reserves side 4-1.

Tyson Stubbings fired a brace and there were goals for Ryan Wilson and Kieran Friett as Mark Plumpton’s men eased to the win against the heavily-depleted division two champions.

Plumpton couldn’t find a man of the match, he said: “We were awful, it was an awful game.”
