Lucy earns bronze at Broome event

It has been a busy summer for 14-year-old Lucy Gilsenan from Staintondale and her two ponies, Maddy and Comanche Blue.

They were recently competing at the Junior Showjumping Championships of Great Britain at the David Broome Event Centre in South Wales and Lucy was presented with a bronze medal in the 2’6” class riding Maddy and finished in eighth position on Comanche Blue.

This was quite an achievement for the young rider to have two top 10 placings among such a high entry.

Competitors travelled from throughout the country to take part in the competition, having gained their qualification at local venues.

Lucy qualified at Bishop Burton College and is a member of Glaisdale Pony Club and North Ryedale Riding Club.

She was also part of the junior novice Showjumping team competing at the riding Club Championships at Lincoln last weekend who managed a very credible eighth place.

Lucy said: ”I am so lucky to have two such talented ponies. I never know which one is going to come out on top.”
