Bristow secures promotion

Following the penultimate week of Pickering Rec Club Individual League matches the two divisions have now taken shape.

Five players are eyeing the four play-off places in the A League and John Bristow has secured promotion back to the A League following another three victories.

Leading the B League from week two Bristow has never looked in danger of losing the title.

He will be welcomed back to the A League next season.

The remaining promotion place is still up for grabs between Alan Dawson and Cameron Spiller.

The two players met on Friday and it was youngster Spiller who just edged a fine match 3-2. Dawson has two matches to play and will need a couple of top performances to grab second spot.

In the A League, Billy Hague saw his challenge for top spot evaporate as he lost 3-2 to Roger Dawson, leaving top place to Spadge Bointon who won his only match of the night.

The battle is for the remaining two play-off places between Steve Taylor, Geoff Atkinson and Andy Wall who has games in hand.

Taylor had two 3-2 wins over Atkinson and brother Phil while Atkinson also lost to Hague 4-1.

It will be all to play for in the final two rounds this week.

At the bottom it was a relegation decider between Steve Dawson and Jon Rule which saw Rule prevail 4-1 to give him hope of staying up.
