Malton School’s mixed key stage three hockey team managed to finish top of the their group in the recent development cup competition organised by the North Yorkshure Hockey Development Group.
The tournament which was held at Lady Lumley’s school saw Malton clinch wins against both Ryedale teams and Joseph Rowntrees School.
Only Lady Lumley’s managed to beat them but as they had already lost one of their matches, Malton managed to secure the top spot.
The team, which is coached by Sam Beal, a governor and teaching assistant in an after-school club, is made up of Ethan Chan, Thomas Richardson, Sophie Watson, Kieran Sykes, Lucy Walker, Oliver Hildreth, Asha Wright, Kerri Scott and Sammy Holden.
They will now go onto face schools from the Harrogate and Ripon in the finals.
