Tracey Corrigan and her chestnut gelding Bob claim victory at Irton

Sawdon-based point-to-point trainer Tracey Corrigan demonstrated just how versatile racehorses can be when her chestnut gelding Bob dominated the horse classes at Irton Riding Centre’s unaffiliated showjumping competition on Sunday.

“Bob was meant to be racing at Witton Castle and he was one of the favourites but it was too wet, so I decided to take him showjumping instead,” said Tracey, who won both the 75cm and 85cm classes with her versatile racehorse, who has won a point to point as well as a number of showjumping competitions.

Tracey took over riding Bob from her daughter Jenny, who competed him in pony club events but has now left home to go to university.

The pair are now regulars on the showjumping circuit and Tracey plans to run Bob at the Derwent Hunt point to Point on March 10.

Despite a quiet turnout, there was no shortage of clear rounds and the pony classes were dominated by the McCarthy brothers, with Tim claiming the top spot in the 10 and under class on Dillon and Will taking the honours in the 75cm class on his talented veteran, the unstoppable Flash Harry.
