Up and coming chef Jake Jones will showcase his skills at the outdoor cookery theatre at the Malton Monthly Food Market on Saturday April 12.
The second market of the year will be an entirely al-fresco affair with the 35-plus stalls under spring skies.
Jake, the sous-chef at The Talbot Hotel, Malton, has worked at three of the North’s Michelin-starred restaurants: The Star, Harome; The Black Swan at Oldstead and the two-starred L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria.
“I particularly like working with fish and vegetables, and we’ve a great kitchen garden at the Talbot,” said Jake, who recently qualified for the semi-final of the Academy of Culinary Art Award for Excellence.
Along with the stalls, street food and live music from Malton’s White Star Band, the food market also offers a free tea or coffee with every bakery purchase, free entry and free parking.
Organiser Tom Naylor-Leyland, said: “Last month’s Monthly Food Market was a busy one, and confirms the event is one of Yorkshire’s most renowned food markets with the freshest local produce.”
