Trainees and volunteers from Mr Wilf’s Cafe in Pickering were hoping for fine weather as they enjoyed their summer barbecue recently.
Mr Wilf’s Café is part of The Wilf Ward Family Trust, a charity providing social care services across Yorkshire and the North East, based in Pickering.
The Café and Roll With It sandwich round provides training and learning opportunities for eleven local people with learning disabilities.
Fiona Strachan, the newly appointed Resource Manager at Vivis House said: “We wanted to say a huge thank you to our team of trainees for all their hard work since the Café opened last October.
“We are especially proud that they have all successfully completed their catering and hospitality qualification. Our band of dedicated volunteers have also been fabulous with supporting trainees to prepare themselves for the world of work.
“If anyone out there has a few hours to spare we are always on the look-out for more new friends of Mr Wilf’s.”
Andy Lodge, catering manager at Mr Wilf’s Café, added: “We are especially grateful to our local suppliers Baldersons, Taylors, Millers and Alpine Fine Foods for providing the food and to the Cropton WI for their generous donation.”
