Jean-Christophe Novelli, the Michelin-starred chef, has become the latest big name to be added to the line-up for this year’s Malton Food Lovers’ Festival.
Dubbed “The Nation’s Favourite French Chef,” he is an award-winning chef whose list of accolades includes AA Chef’s Chef of the Year and winner of the prestigious Egon Ronay Dessert of the Year.
He also has four Michelin Stars to his name.
Malton Food Lovers Festival, which is now in its sixth year, will run on the weekend of May 24 to 25 and is expected to attract more than 20,000 food lovers to Malton and big star names such as Jean-Christophe, the BBC’s The Incredible Spice Men, and Channel 4’s Michela Chiappa and her Sisters.
Jean-Christophe will headline the Malton Cookery Theatre on Saturday May 24, and offer an exclusive lesson for eight lucky visitors. He will also be on hand to sign copies of his cookbook, Simply Novelli, which features French classic recipes.
Tom Naylor-Leyland, Malton Food Lovers Festival organiser, said: “It is a great tribute to Yorkshire’s exceptional food producers that such renowned chefs will be joining us to showcase and celebrate our diverse food and drink offering. Yorkshire’s magnificent landscape produces some of the finest food and drink in the country and we are very excited to see the creations our star chefs will be cooking up.”
Beginning his career at only 14 years old as a baker in his home town of Arras, Jean-Christophe became the private Head Chef to Elie de Rothschild at the mere age of 19. In 1996 he opened four restaurants in London and so began the foundations for his internationally based mini empire, only having £500 in his pocket to start his solo ventures. Tickets for Jean-Christophe Novelli will be available from the beginning of March via www.maltonyorkshire.co.uk
