Proud parents were left wanting more after watching an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.
The production by Dance Expression School of Dance saw around 55 children learn the story and the music of Oliver! during a week-long summer school at Norton College.
The week began with a series of workshops followed by a read-through where teachers then faced the difficult task of casting the show and beginning rehearsals ahead of the grand finale – a performance in front of parents and grand parents.
“As always the children were amazing,” said dance teacher Anna Baggaley. “We had great feedback from our show. Parents ask every year ‘how do you do that in such a short timescale?’ My response still remains the same: ‘I really don’t know’, as we teachers can only take so much credit as it is the children who go home and drive their parents mad going over and over the songs and the script!”
