A business which is one of the top publishers and suppliers of choral and organ music in the UK is under new ownership.

Rosemary and David Goodwin have taken over Banks Music Publications at Wath Court, Hovingham, after the retirement of Margaret Silver who formed the company with her husband, Ramsay, in 1972.

Rosemary first came to the company for work experience when she was studying at Ripon & York St John University. This led to a holiday job and eventually the role of Music Editor upon her graduation 25 years ago.

David, known to many by his stage name Dominic, also worked for the company for several years. He has now taken a step back from acting to help Rosemary in their new venture.

“It is a blessed relief to hang up my bra,” said David, who was resident Dame at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, from 2010 to 2013.

Now the couple have a number of projects planned, including turning the choral music reference centre at Hovingham into the most comprehensive choral resource in the north of England.
