Residents across Ryedale are being given the chance to start composting for under £10.
In a bid to get more people composting at home, the York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership (YNYWP) is working in partnership with Ryedale District Council to put on a one day sale of cut price compost bins.
The sale will be of benefit to households who may not wish to subscribe to the councils garden waste collection service.
The 220 litre Compost Converter bin is just £8 and the 330 litre version is £9 - a fraction of the recommended retail price of £34.95.
The compost bins will be available on a collect only basis from the Ryedale District Council Streetscene Depot, Showfield Lane, Malton, on Saturday, September 6, between 10am and 2pm.
Bins must be pre-ordered and paid for in advance - no cash payments can be taken on the day.
To order a bin phone 01609 532512 during working hours and at least two days before the sale. Payment will be taken from a debit or credit card. A receipt will be issued by email which needs to be printed off and taken along with proof of address on collection.
The deadline for ordering bins is 5pm on Thursday, September 4.
Residents will be able to purchase a maximum of two compost bins per household at the subsidised price.
