More than 30 people enjoyed a peak behind the scenes during an open evening at the Kirk Theatre on Friday.
Supporters organised the event in a desperate bid to attract new volunteers and ensure the theatre’s survival.
“Folk weren’t queued down the road,” said theatre manager Luke Arnold, “but we had a steady stream of people, numbering over thirty, who had individual guided tours with existing volunteers, a cup of tea and a chance to really find out more about the running of the theatre.”
He added that people were amazed at the size of the backstage area, the variety of volunteer roles on offer and have now been encouraged to shadow volunteers on the job.
“I feel really optimistic,” said Luke, “But won’t be resting till we have new folk in place doing the jobs. I would like to thank everyone who came along and showed an interest.” Would-be volunteers should contact firstname.lastname@example.org
