Plans to promote Malton as “Yorkshire’s Food Capital” will be on the agenda at a public meeting next week.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, of We Love Malton, is leading the evening which intends to also focus on the new Made in Malton brand and this year’s Malton Food Lovers Festival, among other topics.

Sam Welply, of Wellpleased Events, who is helping organise this year’s festival, will help host the meeting at The Yard, Market Place, Malton, on Tuesday at 6pm.

“Malton was on the front page of the Yorkshire Post recently, so if you want your business to make the most of this publicity, come and see what new plans there are for the future,” said Tom. “There are many changes happening in Malton, from the opening of Malton Cookery School, to Made in Malton Food Tours and Monthly Food Market.

Tom, the Director of Malton Food Lovers Festival and Monthly Food Market, will be on hand with a presentation and a follow-up question and answer session.

Meanwhile, Sam will talk in detail about the Food Lovers Festival which takes place on the weekend of May 24 and 25.

Celebrity chefs attending the Festival have already been announced and include Jean-Christophe Novelli, the Incredible Spice Men and the Chiappa sisters.

The phrase “Yorkshire’s Food Capital” was first coined by the Godfather of Italian cuisine, Antonio Carluccio, after visiting Malton.

Tom said: “Everyone is welcome to this event. We hope lots of people can make it! Malton is changing. Make sure you are part of it.”
