As we celebrate work beginning on our remarkable new archeology display, which has been supported by Yorventure and our amazing volunteers, there could only be one exhibit of the week from Ryedale Folk Museum this week – a saddle quern stone.

Modeller starts with fairground attraction

This roundabout model of three abreast galloping horses is handmade by Arthur Hutchinson of Pickering, one of many made by this local model maker in the 1960s, and is currently on exhibition at Beck Isle Museum in their purpose-built model showcase.
