Friends pay tribute to Will Dawson, who was killed in a car crash on Sandside, Scarborough

Nineteen-year-old Will Dawson was in a grey Seat Ibiza which hit the Casino Royale building on Sandside at around 1.20am on Sunday.
Two other occupants of the car, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman, suffered slight injuries.

Hide AdA fundraising page set up in Will’s memory has been inundated with donations and has already collected more than £3,700.
Connor Miles, one of Will’s friends since childhood and who started the fundraiser, said: “He was a people person, he was never by himself.
“He was a bubbly lad and made a good situation out of anything.”
Will grew up in Sherburn and went to Sherburn Primary School and Norton College.

Hide AdA keen young farmers’ club member, he enjoyed bush beating and shooting, as well as driving his tractor, cars and socialising with his many friends.
Some of those who have shared their tributes to Will with The Scarborough News have described him as a “hero”, “one of a kind” and “always laughing and smiling”.
One friend said: “He was the most, and always will be, the funniest, outgoing man ever.”
“I could ring him any time of the day and he’d help me any way he could. He never failed to make me and us all laugh,” said one friend.

Hide Ad“He’d turn a bad day into the best day before you even had chance to moan,” said another.
One friend said: “Words don’t even come close to describing what such a lovely young lad Will was, and the heartbreak caused by him passing away.”
And another said: “My heart is aching. He was our family.
“He put everyone else first before himself. He always promised he would look after all of us and he did that every single time.
“We have lost such a valuable, loved friend and no one will ever come close to replacing him.”

It is believed that the vehicle travelled from the town centre along Foreshore Road prior to the collision.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and either saw the grey Seat travelling through Scarborough, witnessed the collision or has any dash-cam footage of the car or the collision, to contact them if they have not already done so.
