St Peter's pupil wins safety mascot contest
The mascot will be used to educate children about the dangers of a construction site.
Charlotte Browne, eight, from St Peter’s Primary School, beat off stiff competition and impressed the panel of judges with her bright and colourful Billy the Builder Bee design.

Hide AdAndrew Ramsay, site manager at Kebbell’s Cornelian Fields development, said Charlotte’s design was ideal as ‘bees are always busy like builders’.
A presentation at the school was held to announce the winner and Andrew was on hand to surprise Charlotte with a life-size Billy the Builder Bee costume.
Andrew said: “We could see all the entrants had put a lot of energy, time and enthusiasm into their designs and they were very good.
“Charlotte’s picture really impressed all the judges on the panel and Billy the Builder Bee will be a great mascot to represent the Skills Village.”

Hide AdIn total, 82 pupils from St Peter’s Primary School, Braeburn Primary School and Overdale Primary Schoolentered the competition to design the Skills Villages’ first ever mascot.
The judges included representatives from Kebbell Homes, the Skills Village, Scarborough Jobmatch and Northern Regeneration.
Joanne Hakings from the Skills Village joined Andrew for the presentation at the school.
She said: “All the judges on the panel were very impressed with Charlotte’s design as you could tell she had put a lot of time and thought into it.”
